T Wholesale, Deutsche Telekom's wholesale division, has launched a new Point-of-Presence (PoP) in New York to address the roaming demands of customers in North and Latin America. Specifically designed for 5G SA roaming enablement, the newly established New York PoP is part of T Wholesale’s strategy to offer full georedundancy in the Americas. It complements the already existing PoP in Dallas, as well as the Germany-based PoPs in Bamberg and Frankfurt.
T Wholesale offers its full 5G security roaming portfolio for travelers in the region, including its Group-hosted SEPP for Family & Friends service dedicated to operators that have already enabled 5G SA roaming. The innovative roaming environment ensures seamless connectivity through 3GPP’s SEPP in various configurations, including outsourced SEPP solutions, hosted SEPP maintenance services and composite scenarios tailored to operators’ roaming security needs.
The ’Family’ solution serves Deutsche Telekom’s own national operators and provides them with a ‘no middleman’ guarantee. The ‘Friends’ solution securely connects already established operator partners with the same guarantees enjoyed by the ‘Family’ operators, with very attractive commercial conditions fit to make the own-build option unnecessary.
T Wholesale’s Group-hosted SEPP solution is built on Deutsche Telekom's Container as a Service (T-CaaS) platform, providing a secure, carrier-grade, Kubernetes-based environment for deploying and operating cloud-native network functions. By leveraging T-CaaS, the solution delivers high availability, automated scalability, operational resilience and consistent security controls. It enables mobile operators to rapidly adopt 5G interconnect security without the complexity of managing the underlying infrastructure.
“Providing secure and seamless 5G SA roaming in the Americas has been a high priority for us and we are thrilled that the newly established PoP in New York will support this strategic goal,” said Nicholas Nikrouyan, Vice President, Voice & Mobile Solutions at T Wholesale. “Our next focus will be to investigate deployment in Asia and the Middle East to better address local demand in these parts of the world. We invite interested partners in the region to engage with us.”
