Channel routes linking London to continental Europe

At Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier we continually extend and upgrade our international Lambda network. Our newest expansion is the recently completed London connection over three diverse routes to key hubs in Europe.

Today, three routes are necessary and are quickly becoming standard in the industry for critical Point of Presence (PoP) locations. This is to avoid any possible network interruptions by ensuring that alternative routes are available at all times. By adding critical infrastructure, we now have enhanced protection with the three diverse routes, which allows us to avoid any negative impacts and to secure resilience.

Connecting with enhanced diversity: 3 routes across the channel connecting London to Europe

Our Lambda network provides high-performance, cross-continental delivery at key locations across Europe and beyond. It is based on our cutting-edge DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) architecture and implementation of Ciena’s industry leading WaveLogic technology and allows for differing wavelengths over a single fiber. Across our entire network we offer capacities of 1G, 10G, 100G and 400G. The benefits are low latency, high capacity, scalability, redundancy and reliability.

Beatrix Kapitany, Head of International Sales, Network Infrastructure Solutions at Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier said, “The three routes connecting London to continental Europe significantly support the region’s efficient exchange of traffic. That’s why we are especially proud to have implemented this third route, which will further increase the stability of customer services. But of course we will not stop here, and will soon follow up with additional routes for other locations to support the growth of our clients.”
