With our Ethernet Line services, you can quickly and securely transport your high-bandwidth packets, time or quality sensitive content, Voice over IP (VoIP) and application-based data to distant locations. This Ethernet solution is based on Deutsche Telekom’s global backbone, which has more than 60 global points-of-presence (PoPs), including Germany. It is ideal for reaching strategic peering points across international borders. If you want to replace your legacy Frame Relay, SDH or ATM systems, Ethernet Line services are the ideal method to reduce overhead and gear up for future technology requirements.
Service options for various customer requirements
Our carrier Ethernet solution is a Layer 2 virtual private network (VPN) service, which means you have full control over traffic routing and configuration. We offer different types of interfaces, either based on copper (FE or GE) or fiber (GE, 10GE or 100GE). The service handles both point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connections. Clients include providers who serve large corporations and cannot accommodate all the locations their client needs in their network, and carriers whose end customers have one central site and a few smaller locations in other cities.
Two Ethernet Line service types for maximum flexibility
Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service without service multiplexing (one service per UNI)
A port-based service that enables you to manage data protocols and easily create your own VLANs. The EPL service option provides a high degree of data protocol transparency. By configuring multiple CVLANs, the end customer can create and manage several virtual connections over a single port for different business applications.
Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) service with service multiplexing (multiple services per UNI)
This VLAN-based (802.1Q) service variant provides limited protocol transparency. The EVPL service is a comprehensive, easy-to-manage option that allows service multiplexing (a point-to-multipoint solution) at end user location.
