International Signaling for 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G NSA & SA Roaming
Commercial roaming is indispensable for mobile operators and represents a significant revenue stream. Whether subscribers are at home or abroad, roaming must be safe, transparent, and fast. Signaling ensures service continuity for mobile users globally, allowing them to use their devices seamlessly.
Global connectivity, comprehensive traffic visibility and enhanced security
Our signaling services offer significant advantages. We provide access to worldwide connectivity through T-Mobile, one of the largest mobile groups in the USA and Europe. Our customers enjoy comprehensive traffic visibility, including advanced, real-time online reporting for both SS7 and LTE signaling services. In addition, we provide enhanced security via our SS7 signaling network exclusively available for mobile operators, minimizing GT abuse and other types of cyber-attacks, as well as our LTE network, which accepts IoT M2M traffic only after thorough screening to prevent unauthorized bypassing of roaming strategies. Our security solutions also include access to hosted managed SS7 and LTE Firewalls with enriched analytics, and DESS (Diameter-End-to-End Security Solution Phase I).
Future-proof roaming security with Magenta Security Roaming
Our signaling services are part of Magenta Security Roaming, our new and exclusive one-stop shop for all your roaming security needs. It offers secure and innovative connectivity for all protocols currently used by our customers: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G NSA and 5G SA. For each protocol, corresponding protection layers are in place which work in unison: SS7 Firewall, Diameter Edge Agent (DEA) Firewall, Diameter End-to-End Signaling Security (DESS), phase 1, as well as Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) in several configurations.
Magenta Security Roaming keeps technology, operations, and management under one umbrella so that you don’t need to worry about platforms, operations, analytics, and reporting. All our services come with dedicated support and strict SLAs, and are available to both, our own Group national operator companies (NatCos), as well as operators across the globe.
Key facts for our Signaling solution
Signaling-based Value Added Services
Features | Description |
---|---|
Roaming Value Added Services | Benefit from our global offering for hosted Roaming VAS portfolio available for all technologies (2G – 5G) including Steering of Roaming, Boarder Roaming, Campaign management – Welcome SMS, Virtual Home environment, Gateway Location Register, and Data Clearing (DCH, FCH, NRTRDE). We can also help you with BCE and certificate management as part of our 5G portfolio. |
Roaming Security Solutions | Take advantage of our hosted and fully managed SS7 and LTE firewalls, as well as our 5G roaming enablement solution set called Group-hosted SEPP for Family & Friends. These solutions are part of our Magenta Security Roaming concept and designed to help maintain business by increasing the quality of operators’ cyber-defense systems, while reducing cost and complexity. As roaming security will become increasingly heterogenous throughout the world, we offer a way to connect each destination with the top security as required by both operators without compromise. |
DESS Phase I | We are the only carrier to offer Diameter End-to-End Security Solution (DESS) Phase I for 4G and 5G NSA services, which guarantees inbuild integrity and end-to-end authentication of diameter signaling messages. The combination of Diameter Firewall and DESS, phase 1 enables the world’s most secure LTE and 5G NSA exchange between mobile operators. DESS, phase 1 is also part of our Magenta Security Roaming concept. |
Advanced Analytics & Monitoring | Enjoy secure roaming with our advanced, real-time, and sophisticated solution for analytics and monitoring of interconnect signaling for international roaming. Our reporting can be broken into several dashboards, and it provides a global picture of signaling traffic performance, allowing to drill down to transaction level (TDR) and perform online tracing of all subscriber activities for detailed technical investigations. You can retrieve original TDR data and analyze the fully decoded protocol trace at the level of a specific IMSI or MSISDN. |

Global titles: To lease or not to lease
Global title abuse is a major threat to signaling networks and subscribers behind
- Global Title abuse poses a gateway for unauthorized network access, enabling illicit activities such as fraud, data theft, service disruption, and user tracking.
- Over 100,000 Global Titles worldwide are leased today, there there are no clear rules to prevent their abuse.
- The GSMA Global Lease Code of Conduct (CoC) is currently the only document that aims to standardize reasonable behaviour and eliminate bad practices in the industry.
- Deutsche Telekom was the first operator to fully endorse and comply with the GSMA Global Lease CoC.
