The Challenge
As DELIFE’s previous Web Application Firewall (WAF) was nearing the end of its life, the company was looking for a future-proof replacement that could effectively deal with the internet’s constantly changing threat landscape. Their goal was to find a partner who can ensure the highest protection against cyber-attacks via a new WAF as well as a bot visibility and management solution.
In parallel, DELIFE was also looking to replace their web shop system to have more control over the delivery of their website which could not be unbundled with their previous supplier. Given that for 70% of consumers, page speed influences their likelihood to buy, and pages loading in 1 second can reach a conversion rate three times higher than those with a 5 second loading time, the company felt that a comprehensive web shop upgrade was imperative.
The Solution
To meet the security and web performance challenges, DELIFE decided to implement several Deutsche Telekom CDN solutions offered jointly with our partner Akamai.
Security – With the APP & API Protector, we helped DELIFE to maximize its security investment, protecting the company against cyber threats and online attacks. Our solution includes web application and API protections, bot visibility and mitigation, DDoS protection, SIEM connectors, web optimization, edge compute, API acceleration, and more. We are proud to offer the most comprehensive suite of threat intelligence services in the market. Our leading position in global internet traffic and content delivery allows us to deliver a thorough insight into the threat landscape and near real-time protection, keeping DELIFE’s online business secure.
In 2024, DELIFE focused on the security and protection of DNS servers which were constantly being attacked. Web Performance – Dynamic Site Accelerator (DSA provides improved reliability, offload, and network performance by reducing the traffic load of the origin and caching content at the edge. It improves how dynamic Web and API traffic is routed and delivered to the company’s online audiences. Additionally, it keeps adapting delivery routes to circumvent congestion and outages that affect the user experience. As DSA is built on the world’s largest content delivery platform, it helps DELIFE to scale immediately and therefore easily meet sudden traffic peaks.
As 75% of DELIFE’s customers are using smartphones, tablets and other portable devices for online shopping, DELIFE chose Image Manager to optimize images based on the user’s device, significantly reduce time, cost and effort for responsive web design and boost search engine optimization rank with lower byte weight and better responsiveness. Image Manager helps DELIFE to save an average of 80% of data transferred leading to cost savings and faster load times on all devices.
