4. Go through the technical and procedural onboarding
- There are two technical channels to order connections from T Wholesale that you as a partner are already familiar with.
- In our handbook, we provide you with various overviews so that you can view our processes and find your way around quickly.
- For your research and ordering, you will need information about the future connection. With FTTH, the data of the property owner often also plays a role, as he or she must agree to the installation. Familiarize yourself with the requirements. You can find more information about this in our FAQ.
- Test our market availability data tools and complete a technical test of your first ordering options. We are at your side and will be happy to help you with your first orders.
5. Start your marketing

Fiber deployment – Efficient. Transparent. Predictable.
Benefit from a clearly structured deployment process for fiber broadband to successfully connect your customers to Deutsche Telekom's fiber-optic network. From availability queries and individual checks to installation or immediate deployment: With our automated interfaces and flexible order types, you can efficiently connect your customers to the fiber-optic network.
The three most important questions
1. How do I prepare myself technically for the order?
You are a partner of T Wholesale and now want to schedule fiber-optic orders. Before you start, there are five points you should keep in mind when ordering:
You know how you want to log your orders.
T Wholesale offers two ways to schedule orders:
- A portal through which registered employees of your company can log orders.
- A machine-to-machine (M2M) interface that allows you to load and process orders automatically.
Based on your needs, you decide which variant suits you better or whether it is a mix of both.
Our experience has shown:
- Advantages of the portal solution
- You can use it immediately
- It is suitable for (initially) low or medium order volumes
- It is easy to use thanks to guided menus
- The order information is visible in real time
- You can use new functions immediately through continuous development
- Advantages of the M2M interface
- It is suitable for high-order volumes
- After a one-time setup, there is the possibility of high scalability
- It provides easy connection to CRM systems and end customer portals and thus complete integration into your processes
- There is a low error rate due to automated transfer of existing data
Please note that a conformity test is required to prove the correct processing of the interface in order to use the M2M interface. This requires a lead time. During this time, you can log your orders via the portal. After the conformity test, you can continue to use both variants in parallel.
You provide your customers with the right hardware.
To use FTTH, special end devices are required for your customers.
- A so-called Optical Network Termination (ONT), also known as a fiber-optic modem. The ONT converts the optical signals from the line into electrical signals for the router. For use in the Deutsche Telekom network, the technical specification 1TR112 applies.
- Your customer can connect a router without an integrated fiber-optic modem to the ONT, possibly also his existing end device. Some examples of commercially available devices are:
- Speedport Smart, Smart 2, 3 and 4
- Speedport Pro and Pro Plus
- Digitization box Smart 2 and Premium 2
- FRITZ! Box 7490, 7530 (AX) and 7590 (AX)
- A solution with a router with an integrated fiber-optic modem is more convenient. Your customer does not need an ONT and can connect his router directly to the fiber-optic socket (GF-TA). Some examples of commercially available devices are:
- Speedport Smart 4 Plus (Speedport Smart Fiber)
- Speedport 7 Series
- FRITZ! Box 5530 Fiber and 5590 Fiber
- Note: For fiber-optic 2000 connections (currently only available in specific areas), only the AVM FRITZ! Box 5530 Fiber (Edition XGS-PON) is suitable.
You have prepared everything for connecting to the network.
Depending on the wholesale product, you take over the Internet traffic on a different network level and on a different transfer connection.
If you choose the IP-Connectivity product, we will take care of the entire network connection process, and you will not need to do anything else. For the other network levels (VULA/Layer 2 or Layer 3), you can order your transfer point at the corresponding locations. For products with several possible transfer points, it is crucial that you have connected the regionally appropriate transfer point.
You know how to authenticate your end customers.
Deutsche Telekom offers the following two options to its partners who operate their own RADIUS server and carry out the authentication and authorization of end customers themselves:
- Realm authentication: classic via username and password
- Authentication using Line-ID, which identifies the unique line section: this means that no access data is required for your customers ("credential free authentication").
You have submitted all the necessary technical information and (user data).
We will be happy to integrate your logo and contact details if we coordinate specific details and dates for pipeline construction with the customer on your behalf – let us know your wishes and provide us with the necessary data. For more information on integration for this co-branding, see our FB4ACCESS guide.
Finally, you can set up access points for your employees or interfaces.
2. How do I place an FTTH order for my end customer?
You want to turn an inquiry into an active fiber-optic connection? The order process takes place in five phases – regardless of whether you use the web portal or the M2M interface.
Check Availability
Use it to check the basic availability as well as the concrete rollout status at your customer's address.
Basically, we distinguish between 2 order types:
- Connected order:
The FTTH socket is already installed (e.g. by previous tenants). Activation usually takes < 1 day, a technician is not necessary. - Not-connected order:
Construction activities are required. Depending on the status of the rollout we differentiate:- Pre-marketing (VVM) ongoing: Rollout has been announced, but no lines are in the road yet.
- Homes passed(+): the line is already in the street, but the building still needs to be connected.
- Homes prepared: The line is already in the building (supply room), but the apartment still needs to be connected.
- Homes ready: The line in the hallway of the apartment building, the apartment access is still pending, but individual apartments may already be supplied with a fiber-optic socket.
Depending on the status of the deployment, you can explain the necessary steps to your customer. Please note the information about a consent of the owner in the availability data. If the building is not yet connected, an initial yes/no vote will take place as well as a vote on the specific interior work. This can mean a time delay.
Collect customer data
To place an order, ask your customer for the following information:
- Complete details of the connection (name, address / KLS ID, contact details esp. email of the end customer).
- Owner data (if necessary): name and contact details, esp. email of the owner or property management
- Selection of the desired product (bandwidth, additional options).
Load order
You enter your order via the web portal or the M2M interface.
After the initial inspection, you will usually receive an order confirmation with a transaction number directly. From this moment on, you don't have to do anything for the time being. We will keep you up to date via status messages (automated or when researching in the portal).
Only in case for not-connected order
Scheduling, construction and communication - ideally without your involvement
Step 1: Interaction & building connection with the owner
- As soon as the deployment of the individual buildings has started (depending on the area status), Deutsche Telekom will contact the owner.
- In an on-site inspection, we coordinate the building connection and the cable routing to the apartments with the owner. At the same time, we obtain the owner's consent.
- This may take time, depending on the appointment schedule and any subsequent discussions ahead of the owner's consent. Motivate your customer to proactively approach their owner during this process. We will keep you up to date on interim reports and, if necessary, reasons for waiting.
- If delays occur, we will inform you automatically. If your cooperation is necessary (e.g. because the owner or end customer cannot be reached), you will receive specific details on what to do.
- Keep your end customer informed during this phase.
Step 2: Installation of the fiber-optic socket with the end customer
- After the cable routing to the apartment has been clarified and, if necessary, new risers have been installed in the apartment building, Deutsche Telekom approaches the end customer on its behalf by e-mail and telephone.
- The end customer selects an installation date. We inform you automatically of this date, as well as the successful installation of the fiber-optic socket (Gf-TA).
- If delays or hurdles occur, we will contact you with corresponding automated reports –we may then need your cooperation. For example, if the end customer is not available to us.
In single-family homes, where the end customer is often the owner and no riser is necessary, the fiber-optic socket is usually installed with the house connection.
Activation of the socket by your customer
After completion, you log a Connected job. Your customer will automatically receive a link to activate the connection. After that, he or she can start surfing immediately with the new high-speed Internet.
3. How can I receive additional support?
